Issil ran his hand over the hard surface of the ruins. His bright eyes lined with flames as a small smile crossed his face. He felt calm here... sort of.
The white furred cat folded his wings more comfortably behind himself and the smile fell. He was getting no information here. On anything.

As his hand ran a little further in came across a hole in the stone, like something had burrowed into it. After a second something moved quickly out of the hole and down between his legs and behind him. The white scaled snake paused to look back at Issil, it's feathered wings unfolding, it stared at him with blue eyes.

His eyes widened and he looked up at the dragon before him. Issil had no words but he still dropped back with a startled hiss and spiked fur, much like a normal quadruped feline would have. His dragon wings flared and he held a small glowing ember in his hand which he was prepared to turn into a fireball if he needed to.

The snake hissed back, and then slithered away down the tunnel ahead of them. As it got down into the darker areas it started to glow blue. Eventually it stopped to look back at Issil.

Issil followed behind the snake, curious what in the world was happening. After all it wasn't every day you saw a small feathered serpent. He wanted to know what it was and why it was there. The glowing blue helped as far as following went... After all it was much like a candle with the light.

The snake slithered ahead of him, going deeper into the maze. Every once and awhile it would stop to make sure he was keeping up. Eventually a female voice spoke to Issil. Just a little further.

He followed. His eyes widened slightly at the snake's words. So it was more than he had at first concluded... it was no ordinary snake even just besides having wings. Issil nodded to it rather than speaking. He had little to say for now.

The tunnels ended and came across a large set of double doors. The snake wiggled through a crack in the center. Issil would have to push the doors open to enter.

Issil paused in front of the doors as if being considerate of if he should open them or not. Making up his mind the cat shook his head. He folded his wings closer to his back and let the ember in his palm go out. He didn't think he would need it. He placed his palms on the surface of the door and pushed.

The room inside was large and circular. Light came in from cracks in the ceiling and in the center of the room stood a leafless tree. The snake rested on a branch, it's white scales standing out among the black bark. Its tongue flicked in and out as it watched him with light blue eyes.

Issil took a quick glance around then approached the tree. It didn't take him long. He came to a stop in front of the snake and decided to post his first question. "Where am I?" It was among the typical list of: Who are you? What are you? Why are you here? And a few more.

The snake blinked and tilted its head. Then it began to change. Light enveloped it and what could only be seen was inside the shape of it changing to something bigger. When the light died away a beautiful female hedgehog sat on the branch in its place. Her fur was Green streaks. She wore a white shirt and light blue skirt. her gloves and shoes were blue with red, and the rings on her wrists and ankles were sky blue as well. She had golden shoulder pads and a silver cape. "Where are you? You walked here didn't you? I would think you should know, you weren't asleep when it happened."

Tilting his head, Issil contemplated what the snake-now hedgehog- had said to him. He nodded. "True I suppose. I meant more specifically could you tell me a bit more about this place. I came here for knowledge not hide and seek, Miss-." He cut himself off. He did not know her name or what to refer to her as and 'snake' or 'hedgehog' did not work nor 'shape-shifter' or anything of the sort. True he was surprised even awed by her change and she was beautiful but it was best to stick to the matter at hand then worry about such details.

"Case." She jumped off the branch. Landing gently on both feet. "This is simply another room in this long forgotten maze. A little bit of water and a little bit of light keeps this tree alive. That and my magic, for otherwise it would have died a long time ago. I like this room, I like the tree."

Issil took another look around. He liked the tree itself and the room. It looked cryptic and ancient, nice to him considering he had acquired a love for treasure himself from Kitty. However unlike her he did not really have the same obsession with shiny objects and traveled more just for the sake of traveling. "Well nice to meet you Case... What exactly are you? A shape-shifter?"
