Her eyes went wide. She walked over and looked the red gems over carefully. Her eyes twinkled with their light and her mouth opened soundlessly. She let out a quiet gasp. "Wow..." She had never quite seen something like this before and being a gem hunter she was interested in most shiny things.

Haze looked through the gems, and picked out a very specific one. When held in his hands it started to glow. He turned to her and offered it.

Kitty blinked. Why would he offer it to her? Still she accepted, examining the glittering surface. "Why?" She asked him. Kitty was well aware that Haze more than likely would not respond but she wished to know anyway. What reason would he have to give her a present? To console her for capture?

Haze took his fingers and gently touched around Kitty's neck, then pointed to the necklace.

Understanding, Kitty placed the necklace carefully around her neck. She looked to Haze in confusion. What was he doing? ...And was this going to end badly? She only hoped his unfamiliar course of action did not lead to deception.

Haze nodded and then closed the closet. It looks good on you. A male voice spoke in her head.

Kitty blinked. "...Thank you." She wasn't familiar with the voice but she assumed it was Haze. After all he didn't seem to talk much out loud and this wouldn't be the first time she had come across somebody who could use their mind for things. "Haze, that's your name right? ...Why are you doing this?"

Because my goddess asks it of me. He answered and then physically shrugged. I do not question her word, or disobey it.

"Your... goddess...?"
She was not familiar with being a follower of an entity. After all why would you want to put all faith in something intangible? At least with gemstones and money you could put them to use. Request all you want but a "goddess" may not answer you.
Kitty's tail lashed back and forth. "Did she command you to be nice to me as well? Or is this your own idea?"

She told me to bring you here, to allow you to stay close to the Emerald. And to allow you to hear my words, that is what she commanded. Haze sat on his bed crosslegged. Though he had no pupils his eyes were undoubtedly on her.

Kitty's tail stopped its steady swaying and she pouted, arms folding over her chest indignantly. She adjusted the position of her wings simply to pass the time. "...I want my Emerald back. Your friend- Ember?- stole it from me! It's rightfully mine!"

And you were trying to steal it from the bank to begin with. You are as much a thief as we are. The emeralds belong to none but the gods that created them, it is their choice to allow mortals its use. He shrugged again. But, if it makes you feel better you can keep the necklace I just gave you, and we have plenty of other gems and treasures. The goddess said you need to be kept close, but you cannot run off with it.

Letting out a sharp hiss, Kitty's fur puffed up. Her tail appeared to be made of bristles. "I am a thief but I know what is mine and what is not. My brother and I suffered greatly because of that emerald and I think it's only fair I get to keep the damn thing! Besides who is this 'goddess' anyway to order you and I around? Who gets to say who is ordained to god level and who is not?"
Her wings snapped open and she let out a feral growl. Still she was calmed after her outburst by being allowed to keep the gem around her neck. Compensation wasn't bad either she supposed. "...Keep me close, eh? For what purpose? I am not a member of your team."

There is none who says who is and not a god, they simply come to being. She commands me as my clan are her servants. You are not required to serve her, but the benefits of doing as she asks far outweighs the penalties if you do now. He answered her question fairly calmly, her outburst seemed to have had no effect on him. I do not question what she asks, I do not know what she wants with you.

Kitty rolled her eyes. "The benefits of serving her... Psh. I can't very well serve her if I do not know who she happens to be. To say the least if either you or your goddess are trying to sway my opinions you aren't doing a very good job of it despite if you know what she wants from me or not."
