"Why I say." She motioned to herself. "I have watched you and the events encircling your life and decided that you have the right attitude and skills to do this for me."

Kitty nodded. "I can't disagree. I've had an interesting life. Still... what is the 'this' you speak of? What am I doing or have to do?"

"You are going to fight for me in a tournament of my creation." She smiled, she lifted up a hand and within it she had a jet black gem. "For this. The Dark Emerald."

Kitty's eyes became fixated on the black gemstone. Its shimmering surface intrigued her. She had never felt so much power from one energy source before aside from the Chaos Emeralds. "The Dark Emerald, eh...? Interesting."

"Far more powerful than a Chaos Emerald." She nodded. "It has only existed in this world for small intervals of time, granting unimaginable power until it burns out. And only then because it's users aren't careful with its power."

"Mmm... Okay this cat's willing to take the bait and chase the mouse. Just tell me exactly what I have to do." Well it's not my Chaos Emerald but it's powerful. It's a gem... and I want. No way Issil's beating me to the punch either.

"When this merry little gang of bandits leave you shall join them. They will lead you to my home. They will bring the Chaos Emerald with them and you'll also find the other six there." She smirked and stood. "You simply have to take part in the tournament if you want a shot at the Chaos Emeralds and the Dark Emerald."

"Deal." Kitty said immediately. She watched the Dark Emerald's surface carefully. "I will see you there... and I will be the victor. You will see."

The goddess smirked and then vanished. Haze then entered carrying a tray with a sandwhich and glass of milk on it, he did not see overly concerned about the huge red gem sitting in the room.

Kitty perked up when the door opened. The intensity in her voice and posture disappeared as she turned to face Haze. Her eyes locked on to the glass of milk and her tail twitched contently. "For me?"

Haze nodded and kneeled infront of her, offering the tray. His gaze turned to the emerald, it stopped shining and fell apart into shards again.

Kitty took the tray gratefully and dug in. It seemed she hadn't had much to eat for a while. The sandwich did not last long against her appetite and the milk was drained from the glass in a moment or two flat. She sighed contently. "Mmm."

Haze had started hanging the shards up in the closet again. One at a time. It didn't seem to bother him how many of them there was.

Kitty put the tray down on the bed carefully. She walked over to the shards and picked one up, handing off to Haze. She couldn't help but smile a little friendlier now that her gut wasn't bothering her with its complaints of emptiness.

Haze nodded to her and accepted her help. He still wasn't talkative, even mentally.
